Happy Halloweenie!

I thought this was sort of appropriate for Halloween ... since it's a bit on the freaky side!!! BUT, it's meant to represent a custom order because .......

The big day has finally come! I am once again open for custom order work!

I felt so bad that I had to actually turn people away. How sad :( But I really needed to take the time to work out a new system and be sure I was ready to devote my full attention to making special creations!

I got my inventory pretty beefed up a bit so I won't have to worry about that too too much....

So, anyway, here is the new deal for custom work (as seen in my shop policies section on Etsy:

*****CUSTOM ORDERS***** I accept custom orders on a limited basis (only if my general shop announcement says so. I do this because I like to spend a lot of time and extra energy into making these creations just perfect!

If you would like to work on a piece with me, I need to know exactly what you're looking for...... what materials you like, don't like .... what style or pieces you like from my sold items .... really, any info you think would help!

I do charge extra for custom work as follows:

COMBS --- $40 each

WIRE CROWNS/TIARAS---$50 each

NATURAL VINE CROWNS --- $75 each

Payment is due when the piece is complete and listed in the shop. I am happy to do a COUPLE edits to get it just so.

Also, there is an added time element for turnaround ... usually about 2 weeks.

where the wild things were

So, we went to see "Where the Wild Things Are" this past weekend. Cuh-ray-zee.

It was BIZARRE! Obviously, it was cinematically gorgeous ... mesmerizing to watch.

But I really just didn't get it. I mean, it was nicely done. A good interpretation of the short story in the children's book. But ... I dunno.

Would kids really get that each monster was a representation of Max's struggles and personality as he works through them?

It definitely reminded me of those feelings of inadequacy and just frustration at times from the process of growing up. But maybe that's why it was so "un-graspable" to me ... I am no longer that way ... no longer a child.

I'd like to know if younger kids were more appreciative of the movie -- and what they though it was about.

And I'd definitely recommend it for a great 2 hours of visual artistry.

That's my two cents .... in case you were wondering :) hehehee

The wiggles ... in my head!!!!

After you watch this ... you will be either be:

a.) confused  or
b.) scared

At first I was totally creeped out by little Ella's (my 2-year-old niece) obsession with the "Wiggles." She calls them the wee-wees....I think I already mentioned that.

Anyway, after 2 solid days of singing, dancing and watching everything "wiggle-related" I am starting to see the obsession.

The songs are catchy! You have to admit. After our big family dinner, Rich sang "the monkey song" on the way home! hahahahaaa BUSTED.

SO...consider this your exposure to the world of the wiggles... aren't you glad you aren't a 2-year-old?

OMG the ribbon outlet....

SOOOOoooo.... Amanda, my big sis, and her little girl, Ella (my niece!) were in town for the weekend! Ella has gotten SO big! She loves "The Wiggles" (think: Richard Simmons on acid.) She calls them the "wee wees." aww!

Our big trip to the Ribbon Outlet in Hagerstown, Md., was a huge success! Amanda and I each got like $50 worth of cheap-o ribbon!! (Mom sat with a napping Ella in the car.)

Here I am with a MONSTER ROLL of red ribbon. This whole thing was like $3.00. NO WAY! I tried to stay with a more manageable size and amount though :)

Here's sweetie pie Ella, by the way :)

And LOOK! She is modeling my new line of "BabyGoose" accessories!!! More to come :) :)

First love burns the brightest

I'm sure you all know by now of my love for period romance movies ... And this little gem is on my list for sure! The costuming just takes my breath away.... notice the little butterfly clip in the second picture?

So.... It came out last week, I think. But Rich and I already have plans to see "where the wild things are." Soo.... I feel bad dragging him to this, especially since I made him watch "the notebook" hehehe :)

Enjoy the view .......

Ballet shoes

Rich and I went shoe shopping this weekend. He has (or had) this DISGUSTING pair of vans shoes from like, 1996, that were about to fall apart. After much complaining from me, he agreed it was time.

SO--- this is where is got a bit crazy. We went to just about every place to buy shoes in town. And at just about every place, I found a cute pair to buy, and he was much too picky to find anything he liked!

Finally, after much cajoling, he decided on a cute pair of beige pumas! yay!

Meanwhile, I came away with a nice new pair of red felt blowfish flats, and ... BALLET SLIPPERS!!!

I made a squeal when we entered the Payless and went right to them!! How fun!! I think I will dance around my apartment when the mood strikes. Wouldn't they be cute for an occasion outfit?

Any who. Check out my new MISTLETOE COMB in the shop! :) hehehee YAY for holiday kisses!! Oh, and yay for me and Rich's 1-year anniversary!!!

P.S.S.

Last night there was a frost scare, so I brought my plants inside and I THINK with them, a praying mantis!!!

I am naming him Manny....but I don't know what to do with him!! I think If I put him outside, he'd definitely freeze. He's really cute though! I'll get some pictures up later :)

Showing off my new dress....

We went to Rich's friends' wedding this weekend and I bought a new dress for the occasion! :) Always fun. I realized that I do not own a fancy "going out" formal-like dresses. So--problem solved!

AND I got to take a whichgoose product out for a night on the town! Notice the cocoon comb ??? I loved the orange/blue/magenta combo :)

Rich made made fun of my pink tights. Jerk! haha I think he liked them once he saw the whole outfit together though. Boys just don't know about creative coordination!

AWWWW. Love bubbles!!

BONUS WEEKEND FUN! Rich's friends Allan and Heather came over with their sweet baby Gracin!!! We are new BFFs. Here we are playing with my cell phone.

must. stop. blogging. about. hair.

I promise this won't turn into a blog about my hair. That would suck. But, since we're still on the topic!!

I think I've made a decision about the bangs. Rich got a couple of his guy friends to side with him, so now it's a boy-girl thing. (Since I assume the blog readers are mostly ladies?) Anywho. I think I'm going to compromise and do like a couple of you suggested: Side-swept, longer bangs. That way, I can have a bit more shape and style, but he still gets to think that he won :) hahahaa

Exhibit A:::: This was my favorite haircut EVER. Seriously wash and go... looked better if I didn't even wash it... It was a charmer.

I don't think I can ever do it again though...because after about a month ... you REALLY start to miss a good ol pony tail. And the growing-out process is yucky. Why hasn't someone invented an "instant growth" hair tonic??

Welp, this weekend is going to be pretty exciting! We are going to one of Rich's friends' weddings. yikes! We might have to dance. (scary.............) But, I'm excited to wear a dress! I think I need to buy some new shoes.

OH! I think I'm going to wear a whichgoose product out for the occasion (on loan, of course.)

I'm thinking this one will go well with my black dress!

OR..maybe the standard butterfly comb will do the trick :) :)

The great bang debate 2009

Okay. I know this shouldn't be as such of a big deal ... but hey, I'm a girl. And for girls, hair is serious business.

I said in my last post I was debating the whole bang thing. I still am! But, the fella has put in his 2 manly cents and says he prefers the "no-bang" look. Bold of him to say ... I dare say.

But, I've gotta give him credit. The man has good taste! He got me a sweater from Anthropologie for my birthday...AND he picked me to be his GF! (good good taste!) hehehe

SO---now I'm facing a dilemma. I know he'll love it no matter what ... he's a nice guy like that ... but now I'm kind of second-guessing it.

I remember days of bangs past where I wanted to grow them out and had to go through those horrendous months of pinning them to the side.... or when they made my forehead break out ... or when they get too long and I decide to trim them myself and they get all crooked (!!!!!)

SO. Hmm. I think I'll put it to a vote.

Yes or no to the bangs??

Here's a photo of me with bangs (I wish I could make this one again!!!) I know this picture is a bit more glamourous and with make-up and all that --- but try to be objective--- this is important people!!! haha :)

And here's one without ( I think this is the longest it has been in recent history--- and still from a few years ago. MAN! I have aged!!)

I dyed my hair.

I tend to do this when the weather gets cold.

Plus, my pink streaks were starting to grow out and looking sort of tacky!!

Might go for the bangs next ....

wwwhhhhheeeeewww!!!

WHEW!!!

I had to come up for some air from my suffocating pile of bubble wrap and fragile stickers!!

This weekend/week has been so crazy! ( In a good way!) Lots of orders and just an overall positive vibe from everyone. Love it! :) :) :)

So. Birthday summary!

First, we went to the Maryland Renaissance Festival!! FUN FUN FUN!!

I thought these little girls watching jousting had really pretty crowns!

We were shocked when they were actually hitting each other! Kind of scary...

Rich was on a mission for a chocolate-covered banana. We FINALLY found it. YESS!

Here he is trying to avoid my camera as he takes a big bite of the banana!! HA AHAHAHA!

Clever.

This woman had the CUTEST BIRD EVER!? I think it was some sort of conure? Anyone know?

I got roses :) I asked Rich if he knew yellow roses meant friendship. He said no ... but thought I was probably getting sick of red ones :) :)

Here we are all dressed up for my fancy birthday dinner. We clean up nice.

Happy weekend everyone! xoxo
