Where the magic happens

Today is Sunday and it is so pretty outside. I think I will have to go vine hunting this afternoon.
I couldn't think of anything really interesting to blog about today, so I thought I'd share my etsy work space! I'm always curious how people manage to live with their art/craft.
So--here's my computer (notice the icky dirty parts where my palm and fingers go! ew!!) If you look closely, you will see the previously discussed boots! I heart them :)
And---the work desk! It is usually a lot more messy than this. Right now, some crowns are drying in preparation for listing tomorrow :) How fun.

Constructing my perfect man.

I thought about it long and hard, and found the perfect recipe for making my perfect man.

One part: WALT WHITMAN
I know he was gay, but he speaks to me through time and distance. My favorite poem:

"This is thy hour O Soul, thy free flight into the wordless,
Away from books, away from art, the day erased, the lesson done,
Thee fully forth emerging, silent, gazing, pondering the themes thou lovest best.
Night, sleep, and the stars."

One part: CLARK KENT (aka Superman) (aka George Reeves)
Maybe it's the fact that we are newspaper people, and Lois Lane was always so sassy. Clark Kent is just a good guy. He's not after anything; he just sincerely wants to help people.

One part: One part: ADRIAN BRODY (from "The Pianist," most notably.)
I just really like how he looks. Especially his nose. I think it's really unusual and would like to paint him.

One part: One part: NOVAK DJOKOVICKc (aka Nole)
So besides the fact that he looks nice without his shirt on, this Serbian boy is a talented tennis player. (The one sport I can watch for any extended period of time, thanks to the ex-)

For the boys

I think it's quite ironic that I do this etsy thing and it mainly focuses on wedding accessories---(considering I am jaded and single!!) hehee
Well, anyways, here's the new line of product! Boutonnieres. :) I think they are manly, but still fashionable. If I had a man, and he was marrying me, he would gladly wear it, I am sure :)
Heck, I would probably wear it with a sweater. ;)

I'm such a dork.

Like a sucker, I got Netflix again. But now, instead of having to agree on a movie with my former man-friend, I get to pick THEM ALL! So here's the first Ben-and-Jerrys-eating-pedicure-and-face-mask-wearing-cry-my-eyes-out FLICK!

I give you, "Lady and the Tramp." One of my childhood favorites that still holds its charm. Enjoy and take part in celebrating my single woman-hood :)  -emily

I saw the vine.

Welcome to the promised land.

Some of you who've been following my blog for a bit know of my issues with finding vines. Seek and ye shall find!
This park that's right near my office has this super nature trail by a creek and it's LOADED. woohoo! I know it doesn't sound that exciting, but trust me, it IS!!! :D

quest for the perfect boots: UPDATE

Okay okay. I know I was looking for vintage boots, but, sometimes it's just better to buy new! Sure--they are not original, and sure, there will be a million other girls wearing them.....but they're clean and smell nice and are comfy! :)
So I'm going with it. The only downside--the name of them is "hobbit"---so that is so not sexy. Oh well. This is a HUGE departure for me with my fall footwear--which has always been sneakers or Birkenstock clogs.
All well. Out with the old, in with the new.

national no make-up day!

Does this really exist? If not-it should. So I'm unofficially starting it today.  AND--this includes no hair gel or smoothing cream.
I am allowing sunscreen and moisturizers :)
GO TO IT! Here's my proof (ugg...)

Let's see how many times someone says to me today "You look tired."

HA! :)

quest for the perfect boots

Yesterday, I smelled it: AUTUMN! It was very faint--but still--it was the subtle, crisp air smell, with just a hint of dried leaves....

My FAVORITE.
So, in honor of the coming season, I am hunting for the perfect pair of fall boots.

Here are some idears: From etsy.com, of course!

Keep or sell?

OK--here's my new blog game where you get to help me decide if I should keep or sell some of my thrift store finds :)
Really--you win nothing, but it's FUN right!? hehe And if you really like something, you can say it's ugly so that I sell it, and then you can buy it!  haha

Okay--here's the first one:

Cotton sundress with yellowy flowers.

PROS: light and comfy
CONS: summer's almost over!

In search of vine

This is my prey--the vine. I've officially used up all of my back stock--and now--being the city girl that I am--am forced to venture into the unknown country in search of this ever-illusive treasure.

I've mapped out a few locations in Frederick City---there's some parks---wooded areas I've noticed. Gah.

On a happier note, I discovered a THRIFT SHOP! And today, they were have a "$5 bag sale!"

Oh yes. I got lots of goodies and my thirst for bargain hunting has again been sated.

my weekend

Hi all!

This weekend was pretty good. Lauren and I got lunch at Isabella's--yum. Then I went to my parent's for my Mom's birthday supper. Also, did some laundry and went stick hunting.

Today-- I am making zucchini casserole with Lauren's veggie offering, and trying to get to work on some custom work.

And--it's SOOO nice outside!!

Oh, and the funniest thing happened...I went to Borders to get the 3rd book in the Twilight series (I've been reading almost non-stop)....and there was some other girl who also picked up the 3rd book. Then we both looked at each other, smiled, and both picked up the 4th book!! HAHA. She goes..."I'm right there with you."

twilight

So---I know you all know I'm a dork (harry potter and all that), so this shouldn't surprise most--but, I LOVE THIS BOOK! It's almost midnight right now, and I'm probably going to read for at least an hour (even though I'm incredibly tired.)

If anyone's read it, I'd love to chat!!

Apparently, this is the first book in a set of four--the 4th just coming out last week I think. SO--I have a good few weeks full of literary entertainment ahead of me :)

I know you all were worried

So, I know you all were worried, and I bought some organic sunscreen! Did you know the normal stuff is filled with all sorts of bad stuff? It can actually give you cancer instead of preventing it!! (Well, maybe that's a bit extreme..but, just to be safe).

Here's my next big project: Traditional Chinese Wedding Crown.

Woah. It is awesome-looking though, isn't it?! We are going for an ivory/metallic look with vintage charms hanging off the sides. ooooooooooo!!!

I know you will be waiting with bated breath! I'm a bit scared, but up for a new challenge :)

P.S. The new place is still OK--some other girl keeps parking in my parking space.. How rude.  And, I am hating the lack of garbage disposal. So my leftover spaghetti is now sitting in the kitchen trash can...stinking up the place.

I just need to think of how much worse it could be...POSITIVITY. ha.

back to work

Well, it's all done.

And tomorrow, I go back to normal life...and WORK :(

Why can't everyone in the world buy a crown (or two) and then I can retire!?!?! :)
